Synaptril Pills: Why They Are Capsules and Not Gummies
Synaptril pills are vegetable capsules, one taken daily, not tablets or gummies. Each capsule holds 80 mg of magnesium inside a 575 mg blend of six ingredients. The shell is hypromellose, a plant material. People who search for pills usually want to know about size, swallowing and absorption, and the label answers only some of that.

The form01
What are Synaptril pills?
Synaptril pills are two-piece vegetable capsules filled with a powder blend. People call any swallowed supplement a pill, so the word is common in searches even though the label says capsule.
The bottle front says "30 CAPSULES | DIETARY SUPPLEMENT". The shell is hypromellose, and the powder inside is mixed with microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, stearic acid and silicon dioxide.
Those extra four are flow and bulking agents. They help the powder fill the shell evenly and are common in supplements. The label lists them as other ingredients, so they are not hidden.
A vegetable shell suits people who avoid animal products. It does not make the whole bottle vegan, because the label says nothing about the source of each ingredient. Ask the order desk if that matters to you.

Is a capsule different from a tablet or gummy?
Yes, a capsule is a hollow shell holding loose powder, a tablet is pressed powder, and a gummy is a chewable gel with sugar or sweetener. Each form changes size, taste and what else is in it.
Synaptril is a capsule only. The label and the sales page we checked on October 18, 2026 show no tablet or gummy version (Synaptril sales page).
| Form | What it is | Synaptril? |
|---|---|---|
| Capsule | Shell with loose powder inside | Yes, 30 per bottle |
| Tablet | Pressed, often coated | Not sold |
| Gummy | Chewable gel, usually sweetened | Not sold |
A gummy cannot easily hold a big dose of mineral powder, which is one reason a magnesium-based formula is usually a capsule. Gummies also tend to carry added sugar, which a capsule does not need. That is a trade, not a win: a capsule gives you no taste to enjoy and no sweet reward for remembering it.
Our post on the Synaptril gummies question covers that side.
The dose03
How much is in one of the pills?
One capsule holds 80 mg of magnesium, which is 19% of the Daily Value, plus the rest of a 575 mg blend. The label prints no split for the other five lines.
The magnesium comes from magnesium glycinate inside the blend. Because that compound is only about 14% to 20% magnesium by weight, most of the 575 mg is likely glycinate. The bars below show our label-order estimates against studied doses.
These are estimates from the label, not lab results.
Magnesium from supplements has an upper limit of 350 mg a day for adults, and loose stools are the usual first sign of too much (NIH ODS, Magnesium). One capsule sits far below that.
A quick check: 80 mg against a 420 mg RDA for men is about a fifth. Food gives most people the rest, so the capsule is a small top-up, not a full day of magnesium.

How do you take Synaptril pills?
Take one Synaptril capsule daily with water, as the label directs. The label gives no time of day and no food rule, so choose a time you will remember.
Swallow the capsule whole. The label does not describe opening it, and a loose powder of magnesium and turmeric may taste bitter.
Read the caution before the first pill. The label says not to use it under age 18 or if pregnant or nursing, and to talk to a physician first if you take a medication. Our Synaptril side effects page lists what to watch for.
Because the amounts of five blend lines are not printed, you cannot size the dose to your needs. All you can do is take one and watch how you feel.

FAQ05
Questions about Synaptril pills
Are Synaptril pills hard to swallow?
The label does not print a capsule size, so we cannot say. If swallowing is hard, ask the order desk about the size before buying, and do not open the capsule.
Do Synaptril pills contain gelatin?
The label lists a hypromellose shell, which is plant based, and no gelatin. It states no vegan certificate, so the sources of the other ingredients remain unconfirmed.
Can I take Synaptril pills on an empty stomach?
The label sets no food rule. Magnesium can upset an empty stomach in some people, so if you feel queasy, try the capsule with a meal and mention it to a pharmacist.
Do Synaptril pills dissolve or leave a taste?
A hypromellose shell dissolves in the stomach and has little taste when swallowed whole. A burp with a mineral or bitter note is possible, but the label says nothing on it.
